Tuesday Time Travel: A Tribute

Here’s to a time traveler of yesteryear, Colin Hemer, a classicist turned New Testament scholar. His untimely death cut short what was sure to be another productive decade (or two) of scholarship. According to those who knew him well, it seemed that the ink from his pen had just really begun to flow. His final volume, published a short time after his death, is The Book of Acts in the Setting of Hellenestic History. His passion for the original languages and epigraphy was inspiring, as was his character.

Take 10 or 15 minutes and read this Eulogy (pdf) written by D. A. Carson. Hemer died in Carson’s arms.
